WAVES OF CHANGE
Researchers estimate that more than 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic has been produced since the early 1950s.
About 60% of that plastic has ended up either in landfills or natural environment.
Rivers carry plastic waste from deep inland to the sea, making them major contributors to ocean pollution.
Plastic waste whether in a river, an ocean, or on land can persist in the environment for centuries.
If current trends continue, our oceans will contain more plastic than fish by 2050.
For all of this, we are responsible: YOU, ME and ALL OF US.
We cannot turn back time. But we can fix what we broke: revive our oceans, clean up rivers and coasts, grow trees, change our diets, need less, ...
Here some of my abstract paintings using plastic bags.
The "Waves of change" project is designed to educate and raise public awareness of plastic pollution emergency in the oceans by means of art and hope to inspire others to become part of the change.
